TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FURTHER

Do you know what happens to your old bicycle tires and inner tubes? Unfortunately, for a long time they were simply incinerated together with other waste. Bicycle tires in particular were considered too complicated for sensible and economical recycling. The good news is: we have changed that! Together with specialist retailers, millions of tubes and tires are now returned to us via the Schwalbe Recycling System, recycled by us and reprocessed into new products. Recycling can be so easy - join in!

THE SCHWALBE TUBE RECYCLING

10 YEARS - 10 MILLION TUBES

Did you know that we have been recycling bicycle inner tubes for almost 10 years? We have already recycled more than 10 million inner tubes since then!

SAVE ENERGY

We save 80% energy and even more than 90% CO2 compared to the production of newly manufactured butyl rubber. Every Schwalbe standard inner tube already consists of around 20% recycled raw material.

11 COUNTRIES

We now collect bicycle inner tubes in 11 countries worldwide. There are many participating specialist dealers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Surely also in your area!

In Germany, the Netherlands, the UK and now also in Switzerland, we support the recycling process for old bicycle inner tubes with a collection process in which both bicycle dealers and end consumers, via a bicycle dealer, can participate easily and free of charge.

THE UNIQUE  SCHWALBE TIRE RECYCLING

We have spent years working on solutions and processes together with several partners from research and industry. We are the only bicycle tire manufacturer in the world that takes care of the return and recycling of used bicycle tires, regardless of brand!

THE COSTS

The disposal of tires costs money, which is why incineration used to cost a fee - in contrast, our system ensures the recovery of recyclable materials and makes an active contribution to environmental protection. The recycling of bicycle tires requires an enormously complex logistics concept and a special multi-stage recycling process. This is why we charge a fee to participating specialist dealers, who are free to decide whether they want you to contribute to the costs. In our tire recycling system, we only work to cover our costs and never make a profit. Our aim is to make a positive contribution and reduce waste.

THE GREEN MARATHON

As a manufacturer, we take responsibility for our products - even beyond their life cycle. With the Schwalbe Recycling System, we take care of the return of tubes and tires in order to subsequently recycle them and avoid unnecessary waste. The aim is to incorporate the recovered material into the production of new goods and to further increase the proportion of recycled material. In this way, we want to take an important step towards a circular economy.
