MOUNTAINBIKE-WM 2022 IN LES GETS
BLUE-WHITE-RED ECSTATSY!
// SCHWALBE ATHLETES WIN SEVERAL MEDALS
Smoke bombs, chainsaws and never-ending cheers – 50,000 spectators in the French cauldron of Les Gets made the 2022 Mountain Bike World Championships a real spectacle. The Schwalbe drivers scooped numerous medals, even if the big hopes for gold were not fulfilled.
The highlight of the weekend was without a doubt the downhill race in a gigantic atmosphere. In the men's race, Amaury Pierron (Commencal Muc-Off) took silver. The overall World Cup leader left last with Magic Mary, missing out on the world title by 2.5 seconds. In the women's, Myriam Nicole (Commencal, on Magic Mary) took bronze - she lost too much time in the lower leg to defend her title from last year. There was also silver for Remy Meier Smith (Propain Factory Racing – Magic Mary) in the juniors.
The young drivers provided further highlights from Schwalbe's point of view. Paul Schehl (Lexware MTB Team, Racing Ralph) and Monique Halter (Thömus Akros, Racing Ray + Racing Ralph) are the new world champions in the junior class in the Olympic Cross Country discipline. Line Burquier (Canyon CCLLCTV – Racing Ray and Racing Ralph) also secured gold after a confident run in the U23 class. In the men's race, Luca Schätti (Bike Team Soluthurn) won bronze on Racing Ralph. In the XCC (Short Track) Alexandra Keller (Thömus Maxon – Racing Ray and Racing Ralph) took silver.
