SCHWALBE RECYCLING SYSTEM WINS THE EUROBIKE INNOVATORS PRIZE
The first award follows directly after the official launch: The Schwalbe Recycling System has won the Innovators Prize at Eurobike. In the Service & Service Solutions category, Schwalbe's innovative and holistic recycling system for used bicycle tires beat out a total of 17 other entries.

Schwalbe is the first bicycle tire manufacturer in the world to take responsibility and take back and recycle used bicycle tires. Until now, used tires were incinerated, the raw materials were lost, and climate-damaging CO2 was emitted. Now Schwalbe, together with its project partners Pyrum Innovations and the Technical University of Cologne (TH Köln), has reached an ecological milestone with tire recycling. The recycling process saves 80% CO2 emissions.
After around 500 dealers took part in the pilot phase and collected used bicycle tires in the specially developed recycling box, the system is now being rolled out further. It is initially only available in Germany.
